Student Support Services

The purpose of Academic Support services is to provide consistent, guided academic assistance in specified areas of need. In order to make the most of this time, parents meet with the Academic Support teacher and the School Counselor to go over which areas the child needs to focus on. This support service is primarily for students with learning differences/disabilities, but supports those who have medical needs as well.

Some of the areas of support include:

  • Reading comprehension (recognize key parts of story/prompt)
  • Attention/focus
  • Reading accuracy/fluency (properly interpret information, reading aloud)
  • Writing skills (ideas and content, organization, word choice, spelling)
  • Communication (eye contact, listening, understanding instructions)
  • Memory, rehearsal
  • Study skills
  • Time management and organization
  • Mathematics (memorizing formulas, order of operations, general skills help)
