Tuition Assistance

We believe that Christian education should be in the reach of every family willing to make the commitment as a step of faith. We also recognize that any number of circumstances could financially hamper a family that wants to attend PCS. And we want to help through a number of unique financing programs:

  • Alumni Scholarship: The Alumni Scholarship will be awarded to each NEW student whose parent is a graduate of PCS. The scholarship is a three-year scholarship in the amount of $1,000 per year.
  • Backyard Scholarship: This scholarship provides financial support and encouragement to deserving families who have demonstrated a commitment to the school and have a sincere desire to continue attending PCS.
  • Feeder School Scholarship: To encourage families from our feeder schools in times of

transition, the Feeder School Scholarship provides $1,000 towards a full-year of tuition for the first year of attendance at Plumstead Christian School. To be eligible, applicants must be attending one of the PCS-approved feeder school programs, and be scheduled to enroll their child(ren) at PCS for the fall semester.

  • Forbearance Program: This program is designed for patron families who are not receiving financial assistance but will experience financial hardship due to tuition increase. Applicants will need to meet certain eligibility requirements by March 30 to qualify for forbearance the following school year. The forbearance amount will be the actual tuition increase between the current school year’s tuition and the prior year’s rate.
  • Multi-Student Discount: To encourage families to be in the same school at the same time, PCS offers a discount for more than one attending student: Pre-school students are not factored in to the multi-student discount.
    • 2 students: 5 percent reduction from total tuition
    • 3 students: 15 percent reduction from total tuition
    • 4 + students: 25 percent reduction from total tuition
  • Pastoral Discount: In an effort to enhance the valued partnership with our Bible-believing churches, PCS is offering Pastors the opportunity to receive a 15% tuition discount off their families’ full tuition.
  • Scrip Program: Participating PCS families purchase scrip through the Shop with Scrip program to pay for the services and products that they would normally buy for their daily needs. PCS collects the difference between the discounted price and face value of the scrip, in which, 90 percent of the proceeds will be distributed among the families who participate in the scrip program, and be applied towards their tuition expenses the following school year.

  • Referral Program: For every NEW family that current PCS families refer which ENROLLS a child at either campus for the 2009-2010 school year, that referring family will receive a tuition credit of $500 (the family may choose to give that credit to the new family as a gift towards their tuition expense).

Needs-Based Financial Assistance

PCS’ needs-based financial assistance is designed to assist qualifying families who have sacrificed to make Christian education a priority in their family. Financed through contributions, fundraisers, and the school’s general fund, financial assistance is intended to ease the burden of tuition costs. Following these steps makes the process of applying simple:

• Fill out a Parents' Financial Statement (PFS) financial assistance application online through School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS).

• Submit a PCS Financial Assistance Application to the Director of Finance in an envelope marked “Financial Assistance.”

The deadline for submission of completed applications to PCS for financial assistance is May 30 of the coming school year. This yearly application is considered confidential, and is reviewed only by the Financial Assistance Committee, which weighs a variety of factors in making its decisions. These include, but are not limited to: family income, number of dependents, family and student participation in a local church, and the willingness of the parents to participate actively in school-related functions.

Incomplete applications will be returned. Falsification of any information will disqualify applicants for financial assistance.

Other financial assistance information: Each award applies only to the months in which a tuition payment is made. A payment made after the 10th of the month is subject to the normal late-fee policy. If a month goes by without a payment, that month will be charged at the regular tuition rate (i.e., the tuition award will not apply for that month). PCS reserves the right to suspend or terminate the financial assistance program at any time with written notification to those recipients who violate or misuse the privileges or policies of the program. The program may also be suspended or terminated at the end of any grading period in the event of a school financial emergency or the depletion of financial assistance funds.

PCS admits students of any race, color, or national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, or national or ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies, admission policy, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.
