Music is a gift from God — designed for praise, worship, inspiration, and enjoyment. Plumstead Christian students are encouraged to develop their musical abilities to their fullest potential while honoring the Lord through excellence. Opportunities are given for performance, composition, improvisation, exploration and appreciation.
Approximately 50 percent of the junior high and 40 percent of high school students participate in the music program and have several opportunities to interact with professional musicians, composers, and conductors. PCS music students have been selected for local and state festivals including the Bucks County, District XI, Region VI, and PA All-State Music Festivals. The junior high concert band has received “Superior” ratings at the PA Music Educators’ Association Band Adjudications. Several PCS graduates are enrolled in college and conservatory music programs or are actively pursuing careers as conductors, composers, music educators and church musicians.
Lower school students explore the elements of music through singing, playing classroom and band instruments, listening, composing and improvising. As unique creations of God, they are encouraged to use their musical abilities to honor the Lord and bless others. Students perform a Christmas and spring concert and a Grades 4 and 5 musical.
The Middle school music program includes general music classes for all students as well as performing groups such as choir, band, handbell choir and select vocal ensemble. Performances include a winter and spring concert.
The Upper school program includes a music appreciation class, a two-year music theory course and a variety of performing ensembles including choir, band, handbell choir, select vocal ensemble and madrigal singers. Performances include a Christmas and spring concert, pops concert, and madrigal dinner.
