The Race for Education is one of PCS’ most successful fundrasiers. This annual event helps our educational and operational expenses. The race is run at both the Plumstead and Peace Valley campuses in October, but the real action began early in September. That’s when the students start collecting and bring in the all-important address label sheets.
Here’s how it works:
Early September: students receive their “race packets” with prize information and instructions.
Mid September: Students bring their completed label sheets to school with names and addresses of potential sponsors – the more the better!
Mid September: Students fill in their sponsor forms in class; the forms are then mailed from the school.
Early October: The sponsorships come pouring in as many parent volunteers work to receipt, thank, record and file the contributions.
Late October: Race day is fast-paced event, involving our entire school community is what has become our biggest school-wide fundraiser.
Volunteers continue to work through the month of November to process all of the many responses. By early December, the results are totaled and prizes are awarded to our top fundraisers.
Volunteers also work in the winter and summer months to enter race sponsor information in our database.
The Race for Education is also a tremendous morale booster for our students, facility and parents, as we bond together toward helping PCS reach its financial goals.
